Band info:

Rio Clemente Trio - Anyone who has listened to Rio Clemente play piano, comes away in awe. This master pianist mixes a strong classical background with a rich knowledge of jazz history, then adds an amazing sense of creativity and interpretation. The result is music that is different from others, and nearly always produces a standing ovation and cries for "more." When reviewers stumble for words to describe his work, it’s because words fail to convey the rich depth of character, nimble facility of play and ease with which his music is crafted and performed. The man brings something very special and decidedly

unequalled to the piano. He has recorded with bassist Milt Hinton, performed Dave Brubeck’s mass (To Hope! A Celebration) and prepared a feature CD on Richard Rodgers that led Linda Rodgers to say, "Rio plays my father’s music better than anyone I ever heard – with unremitting style and sensitivity, and always with a technique that is elegant." Dave Brubeck has written, "Rio Clemente is EXCELLENT!," and comedian Freddy Roman has said, "I want to open for you!" A native of Morristown, NJ, Rio is a member of its Hall of Fame.

David Ostwald’s Gully Low Jazz Band – Personnel: David Ostwald (leader, tuba), Ed Polcer (cornet), Dan Block (reeds), Mark Shane (piano), and Marion Felder (drums).

Inspired by the noble jazz pioneers Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton and their colleagues, David Ostwald’s Gully Low Jazz Band breathes life and passion into America’s own great art form. Since 1980, this acoustically electrifying group has appeared nationally and internationally in varied settings - currently in the tenth year of an open-ended weekly Wednesday evening engagement at New York City’s Birdland, at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer’s Night Swing, at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, at Jazz in July at the 92nd Street Y, at Lionel Hampton’s New Orleans-style funeral procession, and at four appearances since 2001 at Scotland’s Nairn International Jazz Festival. The band’s guest musicians have included Wynton Marsalis, Dick Hyman, Jon Hendricks, Clark Terry, Jon Faddis, and blues great Big Joe Turner, whose recording with the band, one of five it has made, was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1986.

In addition, the Gully Low Jazz Band strongly believes that children’s lives are

enriched by exposure to jazz music, and in this regard has presented numerous programs

for schoolchildren at the Louis Armstrong House in Corona, New York, and at Lincoln

Center’s "Meet the Artist" and "Real to Reel" series.

Robbie Scott and The Dixie Dealers – Personnel - Dan Levinson (clarinet), Randy Reinhart (cornet), Herb Gardner (trombone) Mike Weatherly (string bass) and Robbie Scott (drums).

Robbie Scott, drums and percussion was born in Brooklyn in 1952. Robbie studied seriously with Sonny Igoe and Joe Morrelo and then went on to Brooklyn college for a degree in music performance. Robbie played with Bobby Short at the hotel Carlyle in NYC for 15 years. He played with Woody Allen’s Dixieland Trad Jazz Band at Michael’s Pub for 10 years. Robbie has played for 3 US Presidents, King Hussain Of Jordan, NYC mayors, several governors of NJ and many more. The band can be heard at clubs and at the very prestigious Rainbow Room in NYC on a regular basis. The Dixie Dealers love to mix it up with many hot swing and dixieland favorites. Robbie loves to play and drive a band much in the tradition of Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich.
