Paul Midiri - vibes, trombone, drums; Joe Midiri - reeds; Dan Tobias - trumpet, Pat Mercuri - guitar, Joe Holt - piano, Ed Wise - bass, Jim Lawlor - drums. Band info – Joe and Paul Midiri are leaders of various small group jazz ensembles including the Midiri Brothers Sextet and also lead a 16-piece big band orchestra, featuring authentic yet creative performances of the music of Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Artie Shaw, Red Norvo, amongst many others, as well as the Midiri Brothers’ own special arrangements in the tradition of the Swing and Dixie eras. Their latest independent recordings Live! at Bridgewater (which features their Septet), Avalon and Finger Bustin’ are featured as part of the regular programming of nationally syndicated radio programs such as "Swing Thing", hosted by Fred Hall and Don Kennedy&rsqup;s “Big Band Jump”. Not to mention also on worldwide web broadcasts through “Swanktown Radio” and Bo Lewis’ “Big Band Dance Party”. Also, their recordings can be heard on many regional and national radio stations from KSDS 88.3 FM San Diego, CA to WPEN 950 AM in Philadelphia, PA. Recent concerts include Mr. Joe Midiri featured in several sold out performances as “Benny Goodman” in recreations of the historic 1938 Benny Goodman Carnegie Hall concert, part of Jazz at the Music Hall series at various venues including the Gorden Center in Baltimore, MD - and also with Paul Midiri as Lionel Hampton in various tribute concerts to BG’s small group swing jazz ensembles. Not to mention, performing also to sold out crowds for “Benny 2001” sponsored by the “Jazz in Bridgewater” jazz series. Mr. Paul Midiri's talents are inspired by Lionel Hampton in doubling on the vibraphone and drums and can also be heard on many a trombone solo. His many instrumental talents lend a special versatility to not only the Midiri band's unique sound, but also with its diverse arrangements. Since 1990, the Midiri Brothers various jazz ensembles have performed at the East Coast’s premier venues including the Rainbow Room in New York, Atlantic City’s Trump Taj Mahal, Sands, Showboat and Ceasars casinos, as well as their Orchestra performing for thousands each year at Philadelphia’s Penn&rsquls Landing. From 1996 - 1998, the Midiri Brothers Orchestra was featured in a very successful series of big band broadcasts through WRDR radio (104.9 FM). From the Grand Theatre of the Atlantic City Hilton Casino, The Midiri Brothers Orchestra performed for capacity crowds and hundreds of swing dancers as the resident band for the only live big band broadcast on the East Coast! Since 1995, Joe and Paul's swinging Sextet has been featured on the New Orleans Square Bandstand at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, NJ - Festivals featuring the band include the Pennsylvania Jazz Festival (1997 & 1999), due to popular demand, Musikfest 2000 (one of the largest music festivals in the country) and the Great Connecticut JazzFest (2001) where the Sextet earned many standing ovations and encore requests. From 1995-2002 Joe and Paul's swinging Sextet performed at New Orleans Square Bandstand at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and festivals featuring the band include the Pennsylvania Jazz Festival (1997 & 1999), Musikfest and the Great Connecticut JazzFest (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004) where the Sextet earned many standing ovations and encore requests. From 1995-2002 Joe and Paul's swinging Sextet performed at New Orleans Square Bandstand at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and festivals featuring the band include the Pennsylvania Jazz Festival (1997 & 1999), Musikfest and the Great Connecticut JazzFest (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004) where the Sextet earned many standing ovations and encore requests. In 2002, The Midiri Brothers Sextet made their West Coast debut at the Cosa Mesa Orange County Classic Jazz Festival in California and were the official hit of the festival, so much so, that L.A. Jazz magazine stated, “Catch them whenever you can!” as well as “their sextet is one of the most exciting small group swing units around today”. Since their debut, they have been invited back to perform 2003, 2004, and 2005 festivals. In 2003, The Midiri Brothers Sextet made their debut at the Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee to rave reviews and in 2004, The Midiri Brothers Sextet debuted at the Wine Country Vintage Jazz Festival as well as the Sun Valley Swing & Dixie Jazz Jamboree. The band has since been invited back for both festivals as well as for Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee. In May of 2005, the Midiri Brothers Sextet will make their debut at the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, one of the largest jazz festivals in the country.
