BAND INFO:

Sarah Spencer’s Transatlantic Band

Sarah Spencer’s Transatlantic Band is an exciting

band who share their leader’s commitment to the

music of New Orleans. The sextet’s wide ranging

repertoire is both exciting to listen to and compulsively

danceable. Sarah Spencer was born in

Surrey England but her spiritual home has always

been New Orleans. Sarah began her musical

journey at the age of eight. After mastering the

clarinet, she quickly moves on to tenor, soprano

and baritone saxophones. In her teens she performed

at Preservation Hall with the Olympia

Brass Band. Now Living in the USA, Sarah continues

to concertize abroad. The Transatlantic

Band offers American audiences the opportunity

to enjoy both her instrumental and vocal talents in

a hard-swinging, high-energy showcase.

Personnel include: Sarah Spencer - saxophones

and vocal, Tex Wyndham- cornet and vocal, Craig

Grant – trombone, Bill Sinclair – piano, Bob

Sundstrom - banjo and vocal, Art Hovey - string

bass and tuba, Kevin Dorn – drums. Her website

is www.Sarah-Spencer.com

Kevin Dorn’s Trad Jazz Collective

Kevin Dorn’s Trad Jazz Collective. Born in New

York City, Kevin took up drumming at the age of

14. Since then, he has become one of the busiest

drummers in traditional jazz. A solid timekeeper in

the tradition of Cliff Leeman, Kevin's exciting

career has included performances with artists

such as Dan Barrett, Ed Polcer, Johnny Varro,

Bob Wilber, Dan Levinson, Mark Shane, Terry

Blaine, Howard Alden, Jon-Erik Kellso, Warren

Vaché, and Allan Vaché. Kevin has performed

with The Loren Schoenberg Big Band, Vince

Giordano's Nighthawks, The Flying Neutrinos,

The Flipped Fedoras, David Ostwald's Louis

Armstrong Centennial Band, The Manhattan

Rhythm Kings, Banu Gibson and the New

Orleans Hot Jazz, and many others. After leaving

the Jim Cullum Jazz Band in 2004 and returning

to New York, Kevin formed the Traditional Jazz

Collective (the TJC). This group of young musicians

was instantly a hit with audiences because

of their passionate, no-holds-barred style of playing.

The band is loose and energetic, and the

chemistry between the players is obvious. His

website is www.KevinDorn.com

The Cakewalkin’ Jass Band

The Cakewalkin’ Jass Band has a strong reputation

for traditional jazz in the Toledo area and has

performed at festivals and events throughout the

United States and Canada, including Chicago,

Sacramento, San Diego, Toronto, Detroit and

Washington. Led by clarinetest Ray Heitger, The

Cakewalkin’ Jass Band started in 1967 and has a

New Orleans style repertoire now at over 470

tunes. The band’s love of the music and of bringing

its inherent happiness to an audience is infectious

- as the thousands upon thousands of people

who have seen and heard the band will attest

to. Presently, the instrumentation is banjo, string

bass, piano, cornet, clarinet, drums, trombone,

and vocalist with eight members. Over the years,

there have been 28 full time musicians and about

27 often used substitutes in the CJB.
